This adapter enables you to convert a 6-pin FireWire connector to a 4-pin FireWire connector and vice versa. This allows you to connect FireWire devices that otherwise use different connectors. Using the adapter makes no difference in terms of performance, but it is not possible to supply power through it, as 4-pin FireWire connectors do not support power transfer.
